Whilst we do not have a Guestbook on the website, we do, however, frequently have emails from our visitors, we have decided to give some indication of their comments on this page. You may be surprised by the number, and variation, of some of the help requests that we receive, we try to assist wherever possible.

All of the quotations are as we received them, we have made no spelling alterations or any corrections to grammar.

Where the email text was in color we have left that color intact as much as is technically possible.

We have, for security reasons, removed email addresses from the examples shown. However, if you feel that you wish to email the person who sent the original to us then please send the email via us with a request to forward to that person (please be specific), and we will do so immediately. "Do you have a picture of the cross that formed itself in the rubble from the WTC???
if you do , can you forward it to me
thanks
carmela
"

Unfortunately at that time we did not have an immediately available copy of the picture that Carmela asked for and we replied to her as such, but we did offer to try and help. Eventually we were able to provide the picture that she wanted..here are the subsequent emails from her...

"thanks for writing back, I cannot find it on your website, and it is a wonderful one indeed.  Unfortunately, it has to be a rembrance of a horrible incident, and it's also unfortunate that this horrible thing had to bring us together, but if you could find the cross, I would truly appreciate it, it made me feel so safe and so able to realize that there is some good in the world
thanks

I am from England and have never written a poem before, But my heart goes out to your country now and forever. In the wake of the attack and as winston churchill said in 1940, And i will use his words with your blessing about your new york fireman and all services.

Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed to so few by so  many

Yours Sincerely

Poem Written By
Andy Burns
September 12th 2001

At six years old I thought the world, Was only made for boys and girls
I'd leave my door and run and play, For I was safe from day to day
At sixteen years times still were good, Looking forward as I should
To days when I would find a wife, To having kids and lead my life
At twenty five my kids were born, Into a world becoming torn
Violence here, another war there, Sometimes it was so much to bear
At thirty five things haven't changed, The wars go on the violence stays
At fifty years my kids have grown, They don't have kids they aren't alone
They know the time is just not right, When the world is safe well then they might
I've reached the age of fifty one  With Grace and Ruth each day is fun
Until that dark September day When tragedy hit the USA
I looked upon my TV screen What I saw was it real
I saw the tears and voices I heard, Their cries were like a shrieking bird
I saw the second plane appear, My heart it sank I saw it veer
From its path it hurtled fast,  Oh please my god let it go past
My words they fell upon deaf ears,  And then it hit I saw the tears
I then saw the buildings fall, Crumbling down on one and all
The toughest man his child in arms, His hands protecting it from harm
I've searched my mind for reasons why, The more I search the more I cry
For that proud land across the sea, Will never fall as you will see
We grieve for them across the world ,All four corners of this earth
Their people are a special breed, They will find out who did this deed
Their enemies who did this crime, Will very soon find out in time
Where will they run, hide underground, I tell you this they will be found
The country that you thought you broke, It only slept and has now awoke
Mothers cry and fathers pray, But soon it will be judgment day
You dance in streets and sing your songs, Then make it last it wont be long
There's no escape no year no day, America is on its way

"Good Morning,
I am looking for details about the SAR dog who perished at the WTC. Can you help??
Kindest Regards,
Amber DiGiovanni "

This request came to us only ten days after the attacks, and we finally managed to establish that the dog's name was Sirius, the following is the wonderful reply from Amber..

"Dear Trevor,
Thank you for your prompt response!!
I founded a program called "The Canine Hero Fund" , that is solely funded from a line of products I own. A portion of the proceeds is what generates the monies for the fund. The fund is designed to purchase canine cool  down vests for SAR dogs and some bullet proof vests for police dogs.
Also I am starting a post certification scholarship (which I would like to name after the SAR dog that perished at the WTC) to lend some financial support to the human side of search and rescue. The scholarship basic outline is this:  If a SAR handler/owner has lost a dog due to illness or death due to old age or death on the job they can apply for a post certification scholarship to help offset the cost of training their replacement animal. Applicants cannot apply prior to certification completion and then a board of five members will review all applicants and make a decision on who will receive a scholarship.
Thank you again for you help!
Amber Digiovanni"

"Loved your website. Thanks for all the great pictures and graphics. My brother is a NY City firefighter and I lost a friend who was a NY City firefighter. I am a nurse who cared for many of the World Trade Center victims. I have nieces and nephews that are your daughters age. I hope your daughter is able to stay here in the States and I will often think of her friends who are overseas. I know first hand the cost of maintaining liberty and living in a free, open society and I won't ever forget it. I wouldn't want to live anywhere but where I am right now. Be well and Happy New Year.

"Hi. I wanted to thank you for putting your site up. I wanted a picture of the WTC for my desktop wallpaper. When someone dies, many like to have a picture of their beloved as a memory of how the beloved was when he or she was alive. I didn't really appreciate the WTC or what the businesses or the workers did until they were gone. Thank you again, Ryan Phillips"

"Hi there! My name is Kimberly Kilander and I homeschool my 6th grade daughter.  I am also a co/teacher in a newspaper/journalism class for homeschoolers.  We are all extremely touched by the events of 9/11.  The kids are required to write a 'feature' story as the majority of their grade this semester.  My daughter suggested a trip to ground zero as she would love to interview someone(s) who work with the cadaver dogs.  I thought that was really a creative idea for her to have come up with.  I suggested it to a couple of the parents and now it seems to be mushrooming into a weekend trip to NYC.  Is it possible to arrange for Courtney to meet with and interview one of you? It would be so appreciated.  I look forward to hearing from you.
Blessings,
Kimberly"

We had a brief exchange of emails with several children/teachers/teenagers, here is an example of one of them....

My name is Karina Grudnikova AND im 13
Please read this, pass it on, and PLEASE put it on ur site

In Memory Of All Victims

To all those whose lives who couldn't go on.
To all those lost loved ones that are gone.
September 11th was a tragic day that tore us apart,
But it also united all of our hearts.

That day was a horrible day in history.
Everyone was caused so much misery!
As planes crashed into the WTC towers,
There were added graves with flowers.

People ran, screams piercing the sky and air.
Everyone was trying to hide their fear.
As smoke filled up the sky, dark and fierce,
Everyone covered their eyes and ears.

You see, life is terrible when events like this occur.
But the memories will always be clear, never a blur.
There is a dark reason in each of those terrorists' hearts.
Which we hope they will not impart.

One tiny thing that can ruin a people, a world, a place,
One tiny thing that can ruin a race.
Those terrorists had a concealed look.
But this disaster we can't overlook.

That little thought is born like a child,
It starts growing, very slowly and very mild.
Next, it coils, ravels, unravels,
Turns, grows, spirals, and travels.

It grows into a feeling, one that is called hate.
It gave all those poor people an unthinkable fate.
It grows very powerful, hate is a fierce and evil word,
It holds onto your heart, how absurd!

Why should evil never let go?
It only causes you more misery blow by blow.
Just treat everyone with respect and courtesy,
Then you will have friends for history.

" I know sadness very well,
But the worst sadness that I can tell,
Is the sadness that comes with a coffin.
I hope it doesn't knock on my doors often."

I hope my tears will never again flood like on September 11, 2001.

I just wanted to send you four pictures I found that would work well on your
site. Also, thank you for creating, and maintaining, your site for as long as
you have. I'm sure it has been a lot of work, but it brings me pride and
solace every time I visit. I'm sure many others feel the same way!

"As I was going over your site I think that the people of the United States should ask the Government to make the area called ground zero into an memorial park to honor those that died and to also honor those that gave their lives in helping people. I think that the picture of the firemen should be a great memorial to make us to never forget that day, I know I will never forget. I would like your feedback on this please? If at all possible why start a petition to make this a memorial park? I know I would sign it and I think that a lot of Americans would also sign it.

Dear Jeanne and Trev,

I have just spent the past hour checking out your site.  Very good job and I hope you keep adding to it.  I was trying to find a guestbook or a web ring to add my site to, but could not find any.  I do have a site of my own, which I would be flattered if you checked it out and added yourself to one of my web rings.  I am also putting your site name as J&T's America Tribute on my list of links.  Some of my pages I am still working on and I am always updating it.  I plan on making a trip out to NY for the 1 year annv so I can add some of those photos.  I went to NY the weekend after it happened to take some equipment thru my friends work.  I also visited it about a month later to bring them back.  The times I was there, I just could not take any pictures for the respect of the familes that have lost loved ones.

"Hello,

I am a student journalism and media studies at the Intec College in Johannesburg, South Africa. One of my assignments is to write a story about a topic of interest. I chose to do my article on the consequences of the Sept. 11 attacks. One of the consequences is the increasing patriotism among citizens. As I was looking for information on this topic, I came across your website. As I need as much information from personal sources, I would appreciate it if you could answer the questions listed below concerning patrtiotic websites. The article will also be sent in to a South African newspaper for publication. If you wish, I will send you the final copy of the story.

Thank you kindly,

"Dear Jeanne and Trev,

I just visited your website/tribute.  I was deeply moved and played the
musical tribute and sound bites from the opening page to several of my
friends.  One of them is a producer for an upcoming music convention.  He
was wondering if there was any way to get a good quality recording of that
particular production.  Obviously somebody worked hard on putting that
together and we would like to be able to use it to "open up" the convention.

Would you be able to send that .wav file to me?  We would be happy to give
credit to whoever owns or edited that clip.

I truly hope that you can help us out.  Please reply soon as the time is
running out before this event.

Bob Vermeulen
Director of Outreach Media
Calvary Church

We had pleasure in sending Bob the original artist's name and the title of the track so that he could obtain one for use in the music convention.

As a Second Grade Teacher, from Long Island, New York, last year, my class and I did a web site that has touched all that has gone to view it. People signing my guestbook are from around the world.
This year I pained about what to do.  I decided to do a patriotic theme and then poetry and some writing to add to this site.
I did something for my children in class and all who view this web.  I needed to discuss and soothe their wounds also.  I hope I have done well in what I tried and continue to try.
May God bless you.

"Greetings, I'm a reporter with the New York Times. I am working on an
article about 9/11 memorials on the Web, and I found yours through the Sept.
11 Digital Archive. I'd very much appreciate it if you would answer a few
questions by email that I might include in my story. In addition, perhaps
you could include a contact number where I can reach you if there are
follow-ups. I would need this information by the end of the day today. If
you prefer, feel free to call me (collect is fine) at the Times at
(Number removed for security).
Thanks very much, and here are the questions:

-- Please tell me a little bit about yourself (your full name, age, city
that you live in, name of your organization, what you do for a living).
-- When did you start the site?
-- Why did you choose to start the site?
-- How do you pay for the site?
-- About how many unique visitors come to your site each day? Has that held
steady throughout the year? How has it changed?
-- If people can submit things to your site, about how many have done that?
Has that, too, held steady, or what sort of pattern have you seen?
-- Please name one or two things that you would like to highlight about your
site (it can be a quote from something someone has submitted, or a feature
of the site that makes it different from others, or whatever you choose).

I recently viewed your site and thought some of your visitors might be
interested in learning about an extensive site that Duke University has
created about September the 11th.  It's at
www.dukenews.duke.edu/911site.

The Duke 9/11 site includes material on topics ranging from Islam to
biological terrorism, talking with children about trauma and ways of
designing safer buildings.

Please consider creating a link on your site to
www.dukenews.duke.edu/911site.  YOu can contact me if you have any
questions about this.

Thanks.

"You have done a wonderful work of art, a work of sorrow, a work of
compassion, a work of hope, a work of love, and a work of remembrance. I
came across your web site while researching fire related courses. I have
nothing to offer you for your page as you have touched every conceivable
element possible. I cried again as I looked at the pictures of the great
loss. I smiled again as I read about the resolve we Americans have and
share. I did not see all of your site on this visit but I book marked it
to continue with all that there is to read and observe there. You are
wonderful people doing God's work and helping with the healing process.
Yes, still after a year since this event I am still mourning. Still not
sure about the how and why. Still cannot look at a plane flying overhead
and having that image entrained in my head. I still will not fly. But I
will still continue to serve my community as a full time firefighter.
May God Bless You.

"Trevor,
May I ask a favor,
I know this is a tall order.
Do you happen to know who produced the attached graphic.
Bottom line, I'd like to pull out just the eagle from this graphic and
include it as part of a military emblem.
Any thoughts?
Thanks for your time,

"Dear Jeanne and Trev,
Hello. This is Karina Grudnikov..I am not sure if you remember me, but you put my poem "In Memory" on your website...for which I am eternally grateful! I just wanted to say that your website is looking better and better...especially ever since the 1 year Anniversary. I have a suggestion..maybe you could start to list victims or their families. Many of my friends lost relatives, and one of those friends has been on Oprah, Larry King Live, The Star Ledger, and she has written and recorded a song, " Daddy's Little Girl", which is now played on radio stations over the country. Everyone needs some recognition. Mayb this could b for all those who we still miss everyday, and the ones who cope with the loss everyday.
Thank you!

"I hope you can help me or direct me to someone who can.
The problem: I have a daughter in the US army in Germany and need to get a message to her, but the telephone in her room does not work and for all I know they have her on assignment somewhere besides her home base, because that is often the case. I have been all over the US Embassy web site for Germany, but yours is the only email address I was able to find in the whole thing.
She thinks she is getting to come home on leave at Christmas, but the airline called us at home in Houston, Texas and told us there is a problem with the ticket, and I would like to warn her and give her a chancce to buy a new one before she shows up at the ticket counter only to find out she is not getting to come home after all.
To make matters worse, I am working out of the US myself and only have limited access to phone, so the email would be best.
What I need is the number or email address of somebody on her base that I can get in touch with her to pass the message on to her, like maybe a chaplain or someone.
The base is Grafenwoehr.
Can you help?
If so, please let me know.
George"

We were amazed that our website/email address was to be found on the US Embassy website for Germany and we remarked on that in our reply to George who we were able to direct towards The Red Cross, who have a wonderful support system for the military members and their families. The Red Cross maintain a small office on every  military base, both at home, and overseas. We would like to take this chance as parents of an Army Reserve serving overseas to thank them and we pray for their safety and guidance. Again, this is yet another example of the importance of our "unsung heroes"

Thank you to all those who help and support our servicemen/women, and may God Bless You all, your own and your extended families, and friends.

Jeanne and Trev

We received another email from George......

"Mr. Evans:
i don't know why your email link was onthat web site either, but I am glad it was.  Maybe so you could help me out. Thanks a million times.  How straightforward.  I always thought the Red Cross was only available in case of extreme emergency, like a death inthe family or something.
You have lifted a big weight from our shoulders.  I will add your daughter to my own prayer list.
Thanks again and Merry Christmas,
George Medley

"Kudo's to you both, I am very impressed with your work. I have to tell you
that I viewed this page with tears in my eyes. My name is Chris and I am a
Communications Specialist with AirLife Helicopters in Denver Colorado. I sat
with my wife on Sept 11th and watched everything unfold the whole time
thinking of all the people who's lives just changed. I often wonder if there
was more that I could do but donate money, you have taken that a step
further by making this page. What a nice tribute, you must be very
thoughtfull people. I like you have family in the military and will include
your daughter in my prayers from this day forward. God bless you.

"It is a very nice site. I am a SAR K9 Handler in California. I am not an
Urban Disaster Dog Handler. I would like to point out that all firemen that
have FEMA dogs are paid employees and their dogs, most of the time are
donated. The police officers that were there were also paid employees. There
were many volunteers there as well. I just thought it should be corrected. I
can say forsure that all local Wilderness SAR teams are volunteers and are
desparately in need of financial help. We get called out all the time and
have to take time off work without pay to go on searches.
Thanks,
Janeen"

"Dear Jeanne and Trev:
Thanks for publishing your very beautiful and comprehensive website about the 9-11 tragedy.
Do you know of any source for a video tape or DVD of the "Circle of Honor" ceremony which took place at Ground Zero on 9-11-2002? I did not have an opportunity to tape the TV coverage that day.
I am willing to pay any reasonable amount to obtain a tape or DVD of the ceremony. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

"Hello,
I have just heard about the USS New York being built out of the recycled steel from the Twin Towers. On the Internet, I came across your stories and I hope that you will be able to point me in the right direction.
I am employed with Ipsco Steel in Mobile, AL. We are a Mini Mill, we recycle steel. I am hoping that my company will be very interested in helping out with melting down the steel and rolling into whatever length, width and gauge is required, We manufacture plate and coil steel for shipbuilders in the southeast, such as Trinity Marine, Bender Shipyard and Ingalls. I hope you will be able to assist me in getting in contact with the right people. Please email me at
(email address on file)
or call (Phone number also on file).
Thank you for your cooperation,
Ken Allen"

We were able to give Ken the name and contact details of the shipbuilders responsible for this project.

Hello Jeanne and Trev,
I was on your website this morning because I am looking for a patriotic graphic that I can use.  I am a Faux Finisher (decorative painter) and I want to use an true image of a bald eagle with it's wings spread open and the American Flag drapped around it.  You have a similar image on your website.
What I want to do with this image is have it made into what we call in our business - an imprint image - it's basically similar to kids rub off tatoo's.  Only for my use I would take the image, have it enlarged to a size of approximately 6 feet and adhere it to a ceiling in a room with a patriotic theme.  I have a company that creates these imprint images, but I have to have copywrite usage in order for them to create it.
I am doing this as a project as a donation for a fundraiser for our local philharmonic orchestra - it's a "showhouse" that opens to the public for a month in May of this year- 2003.  I would be doing the faux finishing work in March. So here are my questions, do you sell your graphic images or allow copy right uses?  If so, at what cost?  If I wanted to have something created by you, what's involved in that?
If you would allow me to use it at no cost, I could possibly include your website domain information somewhere in the room or in the program (I don't know for certain about the program but I'm sure I can figure some way to get you promoted if that is what you wanted.)
I would like to discuss this further with you in person if that is at all possible.  Please call me at my office of
(number removed for security reasons), I am located in Dayton Ohio.  I hope you can be of help to me on this and I will hopefully hear from you.
Thank you,
Catherine Campbell
Deschaines Faux Finishes

We were able to grant permission for use of the specific graphic although because of Trev's recent health issues we were unable to produce the modified graphic that he needed. Hopefully this project will go ahead as planned. We will include the "end result" at a later date.

I just found your tribute .And thought it was wonderful. With sitting here tonight not knowing what's going to happen from one minute to the next.If tomorrow might bring us to the very highest of alert.Trying to answer my child's questions like "mom are  we in our area in actual danger and are my friends who's gone on active duty gonna be O.K.?"I don't know what to say anymore. What I would like to know is can your page be forwarded to others who don't know of your site,It says what so many of us feel ,just not as good at voicing.

Of course, we were able to confirm to Lori that we welcome as many visitors as possible to share the experiences of browsing the website. As we have stated many times, whilst we maintain the website, and friends of ours in California support it financially, along with our friends at Tripod giving us every possible help with bandwidth etc., this is YOUR website, it is dedicated to the tragic events of 9.11 and it is here to help, support, and hopefully give some encouragement to others, not only here in America, but around the world.
